My name is Kalyn Stroik and I am a member of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) community. Recently, the LGBT community at Carroll University has been under attack. Let us be.
Letter to the editor: Office hours are just not realistic for adjuncts who work at Carroll
February 2, 2010 · Leave a Comment
Students have recently expressed concerns about the availability of professors outside of class. This is certainly justified, as the primary reason why many students — and their parents — choose Carroll is because of the close student-teacher contact that is to be expected. Caring faculty members helping students is the ideal, and undoubtedly most or all on the faculty live up to that model. However, there may be many times when a student has a class in which she or he needs help and the professor is nowhere to be found. The reason for this is simple: too many classes are taught by adjuncts.
Letter to the editor: East Avenue Apt. speaks out

I am the Resident Assistant in East House at 239 N. East Avenue. My residents and I were very upset to read about one student’s experiences at the house in issue two and we wanted to share our own thoughts about this living space. I have been living here since Aug. 13, a week before anyone else moved in and over two and a half weeks before the residents moved in.

Enough is enough. I’ve tolerated the deplorable conditions of Ganfield Gymnasium for four years. Before I graduate, I want to list my grievances about this facility.

The March 13 decision by the United States Court of Appeals that Carroll is exempt from the jurisdiction of the National Labor Relations Board is very disappointing for me and for many other faculty members at Carroll.
Letter to editor: lack of communication
February 25, 2009 · Leave a Comment
I have attended this college long enough to be able to take things personally. I take it personally when there is an apparent miscommunication across all constituencies on campus. I don’t think it should take anyone longer than seventy-two hours to reply to an e-mail. I feel students should be given the same information if a respected staff, faculty, or administrator has decided to move on. I believe that students should be informed before they get locked out of their building that they need to pick up new keys.
Eco Corner: Reducing paper

At the beginning of the fall semester Carroll University initiated a new program, Pioneer Print. The objective of the program is to track the amount of paper consumption throughout the campus and give students the responsibility to make environmentally wise decisions by limiting their printing use.
Letter to the Editor: Fix Ganfield, already

Ganfield Gymnasium has long been a campus hot spot for a pick-up game of basketball. Students can be seen shooting hoops at almost all hours of the day. However, full court games have run into a bit of a problem.
Letter to the Editor: Think before you support

This document is being prepared by a proud Carroll College graduate, not mentioning the year of my graduation but one might look at the time while the Earth’s crust was still forming as a starting point. I do look back fondly and feel that those years prepared me well for graduate school and even further for my doctoral studies and degree.
